The Kentucky Derby is an annual horse race held in Louisville, Kentucky on the first Saturday in May.  While the races may only last a few minutes, your party will likely last the entire day so we’ve put together a few of our tips on how to make your event even more memorable.

1.  The Decorations

Adding decorations to your space is essential for every party to help set the tone.  When considering options for your Kentucky Derby party, bouquets of fresh flowers and spring foliage are a must-have.  Using a jug rather than a traditional vase is a unique and versatile way to showcase your beautiful blooms.

Don’t forget to incorporate horse props like wall art, horseshoes and figurines!

2.  The Drinks

Every party needs a signature drink and no Kentucky Derby party would be complete without a Mint Julep.  The official drink of the races is simple to make and requires just a few classic ingredients listed below.
